About PICAC

Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) is an Australian Government–funded initiative that supports aged care providers to deliver inclusive and culturally appropriate services to older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

PICAC WA is delivered by Fortis Consulting, a subsidiary of Community Vision. Established in 2007, Fortis is a boutique consultancy specialising in diversity, capability, and culture, with a strong track record of delivering tailored services across aged care, government, not-for-profit and corporate sectors.

The Role

Fortis is seeking a passionate and experienced Manager to lead PICAC WA. In this role, you will improve access to aged care information for older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, strengthen sector capacity, develop resources and training, foster partnerships, and support reporting and program activities. All work will be carried out in line with the PICAC funding and service agreements, the Aged Care Diversity Framework, the CALD Action Plan, and the annual work plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen partnerships between aged care providers, multicultural communities, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Build the capacity of aged care providers to deliver inclusive and culturally appropriate care.
  • Develop, deliver, and promote education, training, and resources to support culturally aware aged care practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to aged care providers, older people, and communities on topics such as My Aged Care, home care, dementia, interpreting services, and priority reform areas.
  • Develop and disseminate culturally relevant resources aligned with the CALD Action Plan.
  • Promote awareness of culturally appropriate aged care across WA.
  • Engage with multicultural communities to support access, awareness, and participation in aged care.
  • Represent PICAC WA at meetings, forums, and consultations.
  • Contribute to planning and delivery of activities, events, consultations, and initiatives supporting PICAC WA objectives.
  • Maintain effective relationships with the PICAC Alliance, government representatives, service providers, and community stakeholders.
  • Support sector development, peak body engagement, and peer education initiatives.
  • Identify service gaps, emerging issues, and barriers affecting older CALD people, informing continuous improvement and policy development.
  • Prepare reports, performance updates, acquittals, and other documentation required under funding agreements and organisational processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience in aged care, community services, or a related sector.
  • Strong understanding of culturally appropriate care for CALD communities.
  • Experience developing and delivering training, resources, and community engagement programs.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities, government agencies, and service providers.
