Dementia Doulas Australia is seeking a Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board and play a vital role in ensuring sound financial governance and sustainability.
About Us
Dementia Doulas Australia is dedicated to transforming the experience of dementia through education, advocacy, and compassionate support. We empower communities, families, and individuals to navigate dementia with dignity, connection, and understanding.We are a small but growing NGR Status organisation and need the skills and support of a new director with a financial and governance skill set.
About the Role
As Treasurer, you will be a key member of the Board, providing financial support and oversight and supporting good governance practices. You will work collaboratively with fellow directors to ensure the organisation meets its financial and regulatory responsibilities, including reporting to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the organisation’s financial management and sustainability
Prepare and present monthly financial statements to the Board
Ensure accurate financial reporting and transparency
Support preparation and submission of reports to the ACNC and other regulatory bodies
Advise the Board on financial strategy, risk management, and compliance
Contribute to overall corporate governance and decision-making
Skills & Experience
Strong financial management or accounting background
Ability to interpret and present financial reports clearly
Understanding of corporate governance, ideally within the not-for-profit sector
Experience with ACNC reporting obligations (desirable)
Previous not-for-profit or charity experience (highly regarded)
Strategic thinking and collaborative mindset
Personal Qualities
Passion for supporting communities and improving outcomes for people living with dementia
Commitment to ethical governance and transparency
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to contribute time and expertise in a volunteer capacity
Living in South Australia is an advantage but not essential.
Time Commitment
Attend regular Board meetings (monthly or as scheduled)
Additional time for reviewing financial reports and providing advice
